Rise in Vehicle related offences

Dear residents,

With the weather warming up there have been a rise in vehicle related offences in Marston Moretaine and surrounding villages in the past week.

With this is in mind please see the following advice:

  • -Do not leave valuable or precious items in vehicles.
  • -Keep all vehicles locked, and windows shut even if its hot!.
  • -Do not have anything on display inside the vehicle that thieves may see.
  • -Report any suspicious people looking in vehicles or trying door handles even if they dont get in.
  • -Park in Well Lit areas.
  • -Utilise CCTV where possible, including keeping your door bell cameras charged.
  • -Tell your neighbours who may not be on Beds Alert of the rise and advice.
  • -Do not leave your engines running whilst popping in the house to keep the 'air con' on.
  • Your local Policing teams will be conducting patrols to prevent/ deter crime happening.

If you see something suspicious it probably is, better safe than sorry…

You can report on the telephone using 101, or call 999 in an emergency, you can also use the Web chat facility which is on the Bedfordshire Police main internet page.

Reporting suspicious incidents helps to direct the patrols in the areas, so please keep us updated.
